Streamlined Travel with the Tourist Card Exemption at Mexican Airports
If you're planning to visit Mexico and your travel itinerary includes flying into and out of certain airports, you can now enjoy a hassle-free experience thanks to a recent change in immigration procedures. The Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM), commonly known as the Tourist Card, is no longer required for travelers arriving or departing from the following Mexican airports:
- Cancun International Airport (CUN)
- Cozumel International Airport (CZM)
- Los Cabos International Airport (SJD)
- Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR)
- Mexico City International Airport (MEX)

More informationThis exciting development means that for most tourists, filling out the FMM is a thing of the past when using these airports. However, there are some exceptions to keep in mind:
- Non-Designated Airports: If your travel plans involve any other airport in Mexico not mentioned above, you may still need to complete the Immigration Form manually upon arrival or departure.
- Visa Requirements: Travelers coming from countries that require a visa to enter Mexico must continue to fill out the FMM. For those arriving at the airports listed above, please be aware that you'll need to complete the form manually upon your arrival.
- Non-Visitor Status If you're not a tourist but rather a permanent resident in Mexico, you should adhere to the regular arrival procedures as you have in the past.
Not sure if you need an FMM? Worry not. You can easily obtain the required forms at all arrival terminals. Immigration Officers will be available to guide and advise you on whether you need to complete the form or if you're all set to proceed with your journey.
