How do I travel to Puerto Morelos? Fly into the Cancun Airport and take private ground transportation along the 307 highway.

Puerto Morelos is located 52 kms/32 miles south of the Cancun airport, halfway between the hotel zone of Cancun and the town of Playa del Carmen.

The trip from the Cancun Airport to your Puerto Morelos resort should take approximately 20 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on the exact location of your accommodations and traffic, of course.

Is there a bus to Puerto Morelos from the Cancun Airport? There used to be, but the ADO buses do NOT stop in Puerto Morelos anymore.

Can I get a taxi to Puerto Morelos? Not in the traditional sense, you cannot walk out of the airport and simply hail a taxi.You can reserve private taxi services with transfers from licensed, accredited and legal transportation companies in Cancun.

Living and working in Cancun for the past 20 years, I’ve learned a thing or two about the Mexican Caribbean. When I need an escape from Cancun (yes, I know how that sounds), I always look to Puerto Morelos first. It still has that small fishing village charm even as new resorts pop up in the surrounding areas. It’s not as rustic as it was 20 years ago but I have my secret places that are still off the beaten track.

Roll out of bed and touch your toes in the sand. Grab your mask and have a little snorkel before breakfast. Eat chilaquiles. Swing in a hammock. Have a little nap, why not? Swim, float, sunbathe,repeat. Some cold bevvies are always a welcome part of a vacation day.
