Spring Break Cancun! I clearly remember the posters lining the hallway in my high school in Canada in the 80’s. Turquoise waters, palm trees, white sand and party, right? With the Canadian winter blowing outside, I fell into daydreaming with those posters, Cancun Spring Break became a recurring fantasy. Swoon.

I have lived in Cancun for 20 years. I have “been there, done that, got the tshirt” 20 times with Spring Break. Fantasy is reality and I see Cancun spring break in a really different way. It’s not just bikini clad babes, ripped ab dudes and drinking contests. Though hey, nothing wrong with that. The fantasy college kid party scene still exists and it is world-class. Cancun has been one of the top spring break destinations for a long, long time and the experience is stellar.

Cancun’s reputation as party central has evolved over the years as the destination has changed its focus to family travel in March. I have noticed the shift in marketing strategies (that’s my job) to include more kids with baby bottles than with bottles of tequila. The spring vacations for elementary and high school in Canada and the USA are important dates for hoteliers and service providers like Cancun transportation companies.

Cancun and the Riviera Maya have tons to offer everyone during spring break 2024. There are hotels that focus on the foam parties and the flowing beer.
